A genetic algorithm approach to multiobjective land use planning

چکیده
This paper describes a class of spatial planning problems in which di,erent land uses have to be allocated across a geographical region, subject to a variety of constraints and con.icting management objectives. A goal programming/reference point approach to the problem is formulated, which leads however to a di/cult nonlinear combinatorial optimization problem. A special purpose genetic algorithm is developed for the solution of this problem, and is extensively tested numerically. The model and algorithm is then applied to a speci2c land use planning problem in The Netherlands. The ultimate goal is to integrate the algorithm into a complete land use planning decision support system. ? 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Multiobjective Imperialist Competitive Evolutionary Algorithm for Solving Nonlinear Constrained Programming Problems
Nonlinear constrained programing problem (NCPP) has been arisen in diverse range of sciences such as portfolio, economic management etc.. In this paper, a multiobjective imperialist competitive evolutionary algorithm for solving NCPP is proposed. Firstly, we transform the NCPP into a biobjective optimization problem. Secondly, in order to improve the diversity of evolution country swarm, and he...
متن کاملLAGA: A Software for Landscape Allocation using Genetic Algorithm
In this paper, Landscape Allocation using Genetic Algorithm (LAGA), a spatial multi-objective land use optimization software is introduced. The software helps in searching for optimal land use when multiple objectives such as suitability, area, cohesion and edge density indices are simultaneously involved. LAGA is a flexible and easy to use genetic algorithm-based software for optimizing the sp...
متن کاملA multiobjective GIS-based land use planning algorithm
This paper purposes an enhanced land use optimization model for land-use planning with a new spatial component. This component uses a simple representation of the proximity of related land uses to each other as a function of distances between parcel centroids. A special purpose genetic algorithm is developed for solving the resultant optimization problems for both the direct (additive) objectiv...
متن کاملMonitoring process variability: a hybrid Taguchi loss and multiobjective genetic algorithm approach
The common consideration on economic model is that there is knowledge about the risk of occurrence of an assignable cause and the various cost parameters that does not always adequately describe what happens in practice. Hence, there is a need for more realistic assumptions to be incorporated. In order to reduce cost penalties for not knowing the true values of some parameters, this paper aims ...
متن کاملApplying Genetic Algorithms to Multi-Objective Land Use Planning
This paper explores the application of multiobjective Genetic Algorithms (mGAs) to rural land use planning, a spatial allocation problem. Two mGAs are proposed. Both share an underlying structure of: fitness assignment using Pareto-dominance ranking, niche induction and an individual replacement strategy. They are differentiated by their representations: a fixedlength genotype composed of genes...
